Meetings on a walk-in basis.
LCCC's Academic Advisors specialize in orienting students to college programs and procedures. Advisors advise students in course selection and registration procedures and answer questions about curriculums and academic requirements. Academic Advisors are also skilled at the interpretation and evaluation of the COMPASS and ASSET placement tools and can assist students to determine in which courses the student should enroll for the first and subsequent semesters.

Meet the Academic Advisors

Academic advisors are available on a walk-in basis in LCCC's Connections Center and will see prospective, new and returning students. There are also three specialty teams of Academic advisors in the following areas in the Connections Center:

• Post Secondary Enrollment Options/Credit-in-Escrow/College Tech Prep
• International and English as a Second Language(ESL)
• Veterans' Advisors

LCCC Counselors

Professional counseling services are available to you as a full-time, part-time, or potential student. The counselors assist students with educational planning, life planning, career development, and personal-social issues. Assessment is provided, when necessary, to help students to gain a better understanding of their needs, values, interests, and abilities.

When Should You See Us?
Counselors possess the knowledge and skills necessary to help you make the best decisions possible about school majors and career choices, as well as the most appropriate choices when preparing for transfer. Therefore, it is most beneficial to see a counselor as one of the first steps in your educational/career process.

Student Support Services

How Often Do I Need to See Someone?
Students who have not yet completed 12 credits (and who plan to be full-time students ) should meet with a counselor or academic advisor. In addition, students planning to enroll in any beginning English or math course should see a counselor or academic advisor to make sure that the student is ready for that course. Students are encouraged to meet with a counselor or academic advisor at least once a year to make sure that they are taking the proper courses to complete their educational objective. Students who are on academic probation are also required to meet with a counselor or academic advisor.

Career Library/Laboratory
The Career Laboratory on the second floor of the College Center building is located adjacent to the Counseling area. This area contains information in books, periodicals, videos and computers. The computer resources include a self-guided career assessment and information on colleges and universities, as well as multi-media career and college software that helps students to clarify career goals and educational choices.

College 101 
An introductory course designed to promote students' academic, social and career skills, leading to their holistic development and the encouragement of lifelong learning. 

College Prep 101
Special Topics-Career Development Seminar

A course to help students develop self-awareness and occupational awareness. Students will also develop skills in decision-making and career planning. Activities include large and small group discussion, use of the Career Laboratory to conduct research and completion of career inventories.
